Paisley Skirt Quirky Print Mix

paisley skirt

Wearing flats have not only become a necessity down here, but a way of life! With the amount of walking across campus I’ve been having to do lately I found out the hard way that I can’t wear high heels or wedges. Good thing I’ve been obsessively collecting flats in different colors and prints forever now!

I recently scooped up this really adorable paisley skirt at Target and I’m loving how versatile it is. I wore it earlier this week with a mint top and heels.

In the interest of finding fun pieces of jewelry to sport to work and otherwise, I’m loving this bohemian necklace from Capwell. Their items are so unique and effortlessly chic.

On a different note, I started my clean eating/working out plan yesterday and it’s going pretty well! Ever since I moved here, I’ve been eating recklessly and haven’t worked out. Terrible, I know. I don’t think I’ve quite adjusted to my new sleeping schedule and so I’ve been getting into the habit of napping in the early afternoon. Yesterday, I decided to eat cleaner, sign up for a new Groupon ($20 for 30 yoga sessions- SCORE!) So far, so good! I started running tonight when it got cooler out, it wasn’t so bad.

Hope you all are having a good weekend- remember- IT’S HUMP DAYYYYY! (-THE CAMEL)

Stars and Dots Forever + Lace Bralette

Although I’m technically not a Yankee anymore, I still have to represent my roots! I got this awesome baseball cap with my name stitched in the back from my parents a few Christmases ago. Hard to believe that in three days they will be heading back up north until Christmas. I can honestly say I am very lucky to have such a supportive family. They’ve helped us move in and get settled over the past couple of weeks and I couldn’t have done it without them.

I’ve been living in this tee this entire weekend. I’m wearing it as we speak,  don’t judge! It’s one of those super soft numbers that feel as close to pajamas as I’ll let myself wear in public. Plus, the backless portion makes it breathable and conducive to wearing the really cute bralettes made popular this summer. I’ve scooped a few in different colors. {See how I wore it last here} From maxi dresses to backless tanks and tees, this trend is one I’m really into right now; especially in this heat!

Simple pops of color help to add depth and interest to a simple ensemble like this. I’m feelin’ the baubles in mint; they work well with my new and really cute bracelet stack courtesy of the lovely Beads by Alyssa!

Summertime Denim Trends to Rock NOW

Living in Florida has been fantastic so far and so different all at the same time! This past week was even crazier than the first! This was my first week starting to teach the kids and I’ve been exhausted everyday. There are still things I haven’t unpacked and it’s driving me nuts. I hope your week was must less crazy than mine.

With that being said, I have to say that I love my job and the people I work with. Each week I’m proven how supportive other people can be.

One aspect that I haven’t quite gotten used to yet is the unbearable heat! It averages between 98-105 lately and although I’m one for the heat–the humidity is nuts around here! This is why I love finding add ons to outfits that aren’t going to provide a whole lot of heat. This denim vest is definitely a must have for bridging the gap between the summer and fall months. I love the All-American classic silhouette of the piece and how easily it can be worn over anything from a maxi dress to adding interest to this simple striped top/neon short combo. I wanted to make the color continue to pop so I added this fun neon statement necklace to pick up the yellow from my rolled up boyfriend shorts.

The new denim piece I’m obsessed with lately has got to be the chambray dress! This new twist on a classic silhouette is fresh and works on virtually every body type. I wanted to add a few pops of color that were simple and fun to make the dress stand out on its own. I got these flats with neon pink trim for $7 down here at Gap. Score! The statement necklace was my anniversary gift from Nate last year (he knows me so well!) and I added the cute little Nine West bag to keep things classic-looking and chic!

What ways do you wear a denim vest? What’s your favorite? Are you into the new chambray dress trend? Sound off on the comments below! 🙂
