Today’s post is all about gratitude. As you know if you’ve been reading, I’ve been working on trying to better myself by challenging my style, growing in gratitude, trying new things, and being a healthier version of myself.

I feel like my recent gravitation toward bohemian-esque pieces has stemmed from my new outlook (or attempt at a new outlook). Recently, my family came to visit and it was wonderful experiencing new things and spending time relaxing with those I love. We went to a delicious vegetarian restaurant (I am in no way a vegetarian but the food here is delicious!) that a friend of mine once took me to and had a scrumptious and fulfilling meal. If you are near Orlando, go to it–it’s called Dandelion Communitea Cafe (love the play on words!) and it has a cute little meditation garden and book drop for avid visitors and their goings-on.

Anyways, lately I’ve just wanted to be comfortable, relaxed, and happy so this bohemian style fits my weekend and weeknight ventures to a T. I had the pleasure of going shopping with my mother and aunt this past weekend and found these lovely palazzo pants for a great deal. I’ve been on the prowl for globally-printed wide legged pants like these for a few weeks now. A huge deal with fit for me is making sure that the legs don’t rub together.

Yeah, maybe that’s too much information {sorry} but I’m loving that these pants have built in shorts to make them all the more comfortable. What’s even more perfect, is that they’re called “Boho Goddess Pants”! And, appropriately so, because even when I feel my worst, these babies are flattering and comfortable (plus–bonus!– they are short enough to wear with flats and not drag!).

So, yeah–I’m not only thankful for finding my dream pants but for many other things as well.  Life has been tough lately and I ashamed to say that I haven’t always looked at the silver lining like I should. Every so often, things happen that make you realize that you should be grateful no matter what you’re going through. I know that sounds cliche, but even when you are down it’s important to know that people who care about you love you and most of all–want to see you succeed. What’s depressing is know that you are the only person standing in your way sometimes.

So this is my new quest–to look outside the minute trials and tribulations of everyday life and be grateful for the loving, supportive family and friends that I do have. Negativity no longer will hold residency in my mind or in my outlook on life. There are a few important steps I know I will have to take to ensure that this journey becomes a lasting reality, but I know that I will get there and so will you if you really want to. I’ve recently gotten back into yoga, reading, and meditation and I’m finding that sometimes this is the only clarity that I need in order to get back onto the right path.

Attention! J Crew is having a sale on their clearance: Use code BIG40 to get 40% off sale items. I just picked up this striped top there this past week, and I may be in love. The contrast between the gray and the stripes is fantastic–easy way to mix it up all in one piece. Simple!

This is my new Kate Spade baby, I’m also obsessed. I know I’m a color girl–I tend to like the brights–but when this luggage-colored darling entered my life I knew it was love at first sight. Sometimes, a girl just needs a bag to anchor a look. This one is a classic with modern metal hardware and a structured body. Definitely one to last from the office to after-hours.

TGIF! Hope you all made it through the week unscathed and have some relaxing weekend plans. My mom and aunt are here for the weekend so I’m very much looking forward to spending some quality time with them while we’re up to no good. Have a fantastic weekend 🙂

Oh, and p.s.–food for thought. I know I need to take heed, too.

Sundays posting (aka last week’s most popular blog), is a guidebook to finding your own path in life. May you enjoy it as much as others have: http://relaxandsucceed.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/finding-your-path/

Styling Peter Pilotto for Target

Boy, does Target have good taste for designer collabs or what?!  Lately, I just can’t get enough of Target’s wonderful designer collaborations. Just today, I sported my Isaac Mizrahi for Target pink polka dotted sweater {Snag yours here on Tradesy for $12!) and the other day, this quirky printed combo from Peter Pilotto. (article here) See how celebs sported the line here! I’m particularly loving Dree Hemingway’s edgy combo and of course my girl Taylor Schilling, star of Orange is the New Black. (p.s. can’t wait for June!)

I love his abstract print mixing, it’s right up my alley. And with gorgeous, yet simple color combinations, he makes it super easy to accessorize using his patterns. I also snagged this tank from the collection, which I plan to live in this summer complete with racerback bralettes and denim cutoffs. What are your favorite pieces?

I wore this top the other day to work with a color-blocked cardigan (navy, cream, and royal blue) with jeans (it was Friday, c’mon!) and the students said to me, “Miss, it’s Valentine’s Day, not Fourth of July,” to which I replied: “No, it’s Peter Pilotto.” Naturally, they had no idea what I was talking about but they know me and how excited I get for fashion so they laughed (maybe out of pity? haha)

Well, this week is going by fast! Mom and my aunt come to town tomorrow so I’m excited to see them. It’s nice living in a perma-vacation destination, tons of people always want to come visit and I’m loving it! Never a dull moment in this house 🙂

Here’s hoping you all have a wonderful rest of your week, because spring is just around the corner!
