This post is brought to you by Miss Me, however opinions are my own.

Autumn means one thing in particular for fashion–layering! It’s the one time a year that outfits can be incredibly versatile because the weather can switch in the blink of an eye. One minute the sun in shining and the next, you feel like cuddling up to a bonfire in scarves, boots, and vests.

This season, Miss Me is offering great layering pieces like this boho fringe vest, perfect for layering during the brisk season. As for the tee, I was loving the mix between “preppy” stripes and the toughness of leather to offset a girly vibe. I wanted to try something new and mix preppy with boho to create a print and texture mix. Fringe gets a wearable and casual update by being paired with this season’s basics. P.S.-I’m loving bootcut jeans lately! With a pear shape like mine, balancing the hips out is of utter importance!

Today, Nate and I decided to spend the day exploring our little town and found a winery that specializes in blueberry wine from local fruit farms. We drove all the way out to the outskirts of town and found that the information we found online was for the past season! Instead of being open on Sundays, they only open 3 days a week in the fall. Wah, wah.

I guess we’ll have to find another day to enjoy fun fruity wine and steaks at the cafe later this week. On a good note, we did find a cool orange grove where the fruit was ripening and falling as we walked through. I’d never actually been in an orange grove. I come from an area where grapes take precedence over literally ever other fruit–so finding citrus was really interesting for me!

Earlier today, Molly and I went to various florists in search of the perfect sunflower for our lanai. We ended up finding three and then this gorgeous bouquet that I just had to get because it reminded me of all the beautiful autumn leaves changing in the north as we speak.

Not going to lie here–I miss fall. A LOT.  Don’t tell my northern friends. The only bad thing about living here in Florida is that I miss out on the beauty that is autumn–from falling leaves to fancy gem tones–the season is perfect. I’m really missing the cooler temps that would allow me to layer and sport scarves and booties. Until I scrounge up enough money to make the trip home– I’ll be stuck fantasizing about fall and living vicariously through others.

But, in the spirit of the season, I decided to put together a fairly Florida-friendly version of fall layering.  My universally favorite topper–the cargo vest–comes in pretty handy for layering over anything from lace to buffalo check. This summer-esque lacy top takes on a whole new identity when paired with fall’s gem tones like burgundy and hunter green.

To liven up the combo, I added a touch of leopard print with these flats and some tortoise accessories. How are you getting into the “fall frame of mind”?

p.s.–I had to share my newest find “Studdly” designs by the wonderful Maggie Antalek. Her rugged boho-meets-feminine pieces speak to me and I thought you might like to check them out as well! 🙂

What to Wear to New York Fashion Week

Ahh, New York Fashion week.  The week we all put our regular lives aside to gawk at the ready-to-wear fashion amazement that will dictate our trends for the upcoming season. Taking a cue from my favorite designer Kate Spade, I decided that my outfit for NYFW this year would include a ladylike silhouette, paired with a tough-yet-trendy leather & herringbone jacket; perfect for fall.

I have to say my jaw dropped when I found this little black dress from Kate Spade complete with embellished jeweled neckline at my local TJ Maxx.  I had no idea they carried my very favorite designer. With a neckline like this, I didn’t even need a statement necklace.

I’m not one to normally wear all black, so in true personal fashion, I had to grab a punch of color to set it off.  I knew I had to have these beautiful lime green snakeskin beauties when I found them (in the clearance section no less!) for $39…WHAT?!

What were your favorite shows this year?

I was definitely diggin’ Kate Spade’s more relaxed wear complete with tons of fun abstract floral prints and of course my favorite–STRIPES! The garden-esque colors made me smile. Take a look yourself!

Other lines I was lovin’ on? Lela Rose’s metallics & a-lines, and of course Mara Hoffman’s eclectic colors and prints!

Tell me your favorites in the comments section!
