Styling a crop top was something I used to be afraid of because you always see those super skinny women wearing them and bearing all sorts of midriff. It’s super tough to compete with that!
Good news is that high waisted shorts are in style now, which makes sporting a crop top that much easier, not to mention flattering, on literally every body type. Thank God.
These are my live-in shorts in the summer. I bought them a few years ago, and I keep coming back for more. This fringe crop top is an awesome find I scoop up on ShopBop from 6 Shore Road by Pooja–an awesome designer I discovered that has amazing bathing suits as well. One of the allures of this top for me (besides the colorful decor on the front) was the open back. Time to dig those lacy bralettes out, ladies! An open back means less sweat for you and more airtime for those bralettes. Double win.
On to my newest obsession, itty bitty rings. This roman numeral one is the newest, a gift from SinDorei Jewelry. A few of you may know that I have a roman numeral tattoo on my back representing the day I started a new chapter in my life. Ever since then, I’ve taken a keen interest in little keepsakes and jewelry that offer such a momentous design.
This particular ring struck my fancy because of its delicate nature, ease of wear, unique color (rose gold), and femininity. This is the kind of ring I’d wear with everything–and have been since I received it.
Would you wear a crop top with denim shorts? What do you tend to wear them with if you’re into them? How about itty bitty rings?

Nate and I decided to walk around Celebration tonight and ended up trying a new restaurant recently opened by the cutest couple from England. Naturally, we got the fish n’ chips, seeing as how the name of the place was appropriately called “Fish and Chips”. How original. Hard to care though when the fish is some of the best around.
It’s Hump Day, guys–here’s to getting through the majority of your week! 🙂

It’s been so long, I almost forgot about these! These photos were from an awesome trip Nate and I had to Miami a couple of weeks ago. I loved it so much I went back for Swim Week the very next weekend! For someone who has only been to Miami once before [and only technically–for boarding a cruise] I sure have made it my business to be a frequent flyer (or should I say driver?).
For those of you who have been to this sweltering city, you know that it’s virtually impossible to keep cool, and finding stylish outfits that won’t weigh you down seem next to impossible.
Enter the casual LBD. This dress, especially with its cutouts, make the heat semi-bearable. Accessories have to be slight as well, because no one needs tons of jewelry hanging around and adding to the bulk and heat.
So, hilarious story. Or maybe gross, your choice. Either way, the way this outfit shoot started was with a hat and straightened hair. About 5 minutes in, I decided to ditch the hat because it looked too “little girl” with this outfit. I know, I’m weird.
I thought my straight hair would be fine, then about five seconds later (literally) I found myself sweating all over creation. Whatever, I decided to slick it back and make it look like I meant to do it. Yeah well, I’m not that clever, but the cat’s out of the bag I guess. Who knew sweat was a hair product! Haha! Gross. Sorry guys.
Hope your week is off to a great start 🙂

Hey guys! So–awesome news–Target is coming out with a brand new line of denim and here’s even better news: they come in several fits that are perfect for every body type. Yep, I said it.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have received free pairs of jeans from Target and I’ve been test driving this new line of denim in a few of my usual culprit styles like flare, jegging, and straight leg–and have found that every fit works well for a different type of look I’m going for. I’ll admit, when I first tried on the jeans, I was skeptical (as all women are) because–let’s get real–trying on jeans is usually a nightmare. With a pear-shaped body and thicker legs, it’s difficult for me to find a pair of jeans that fit my waist AND hips all the while remaining the exact length I need them to be.
So here it is–my abridged journey to find my favorite pair of jeans from Target’s new line and where I wore them!
The mid rise destroyed denim jeggings are a favorite of mine because I can’t get over just how perfect the length is and how flattering they are. This particular pair I wore for a day of shopping and paired them with a crop top and peep toe wedges. Like the dark wash jeggings, the stretch in them allowed for non-restrictive movement and they hugged my hips just right. I have never felt like I was able to bare my midriff with “skinny” jeans, but these were flattering enough to make me take that chance. The distressed marks make this pair perfect for strolling around town in your free time.
The straight leg jeans fit me more like a boyfriend jean would, although I got them in the same size as all the others. This pair’s denim seemed a bit softer and had a lot of room throughout. With this pair, I felt as if the ends needed cuffing simply to style them like a boyfriend jean to reveal fun statement heels for the weekend! I wore this pair lunching and running errands around town. The softness and extra room made them incredibly comfortable and perfect for Sunday afternoons spent relaxing. I paired mine with a graphic tee and fedora (and of course, statement heels!).
When I put on the first pair–the dark wash mid rise jeggings, it was like angels floated down on a cloud and zipped them up for me. Honestly, the give in them worked perfectly for my curves and I was shocked at the notion that I wouldn’t have to shorten them in any way. Being that I love a streamlined look and my bottom half is larger, dark wash jeans work well for me.
I decided to take these little babies on a trip with me to Miami, where I attended a fashion blogger conference and hung out downtown for the weekend. The jeans moved well with me and were light enough to weather the Miami heat in the evening. I felt like I could move and they never had that annoying “let’s pull up my pants every 5 seconds” deal going on. Love them.
The final pair I tried on were the flare jeans. This was the pair I was most looking forward to because I recently have become obsessed with the high-waisted wide leg/flare look. I find that this look accentuates curves in a positive way while putting focus on the waist.
This pair hugged my hips without being too tight and layed nicely across the front without bunching (a nice change for me). Sporting these with my chunky straw wedges were a must to get the most out of the flare at the bottom. I’m loving the 70s boho chic vibe! I wore mine out to dinner to catch up with some girlfriends during the week. These are more of a statement-maker that I’ll definitely be wearing again and again.
Overall, I’d have to describe my experience trying on Target’s new denim line as a visit from the fairy of “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”. It was crazy/amazing how each style seemed to fit my body and flatter in very different ways. While the others will most definitely remain heavily in my wardrobe rotation I’d have to say that my final verdict would be…dum dum dummm…that the jeggings (both destroyed and dark wash) were my favorites of all. The way they fit my hips without having to pull them up or squiggle into them on the bed just to zip them up made them a clear winner in my book. These are the jeans that actually make you want to check out your butt in the mirror!
Which style are you feelin’? Which style wouldn’t you try? Let me know!
