I feel as if mouthwash is a staple and Nate and my bathroom and we honestly use it at least twice a day. This leather jacket (originally $350 that I found at a vintage shop for $30!) has been a staple in my wardrobe for about 5 years now. I find that it works well during the fall season to layer and remain stylish, especially when draping scarves over top.

As the last day of summer has passed, fall is now in full swing and Nate and I couldn’t be happier. This has always been my favorite time of year–mainly because of the falling leaves and their exquisite colors, the many many delicious desserts, and smelling the grapes during harvest season in my hometown of North East, Pennsylvania.
Unfortuantely, it’s been years since I’ve been home to see the leaves change or to even have my mom’s delicious apple pie; but the traditions will stay with me and I am very much looking forward to spending Thanksgiving back home.
As is tradition, breakfasts at my parents’ home has always included everything yummy like their delectable french toast, bacon, and vanilla coffee. Since I’ve been young, I always associate the scent of vanilla coffee with my parents’ house and how delicious and welcoming it was.
So, needlessly to say–I was beyond excited to see that Folgers® came out with Gourmet Selections in Vanilla Biscotti. The hint of vanilla biscotti flavor paired with gourmet coffee make for not only a tasty, but nostalgic experience.
Additionally, Caramel Drizzle® was a close second for me, pairing perfectly with this new recipe Nate and I made up for the fall. The recipe, apple caramel puff pastry, was the perfect marriage of our parents’ apple pies. With it’s smaller portion and unbelievably delicious cinnamon apple topping, this dessert recipe has quickly become our g0- to for the cooler season.
Make it here:
2 apples cubed
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp white sugar
2 tbsp butter
1 Sheet puff pastry dough (store bought works great!)
Vanilla Ice Cream
Pre-heat your oven to 400. Cut puff pastry sheet into squares and press into granulated sugar on both sides and set on a greased baking sheet. Put puff pastry squares in the oven. It should take about 15 minutes or so, watch to see when they turn a light golden brown. While those are baking, combine the apples, sugars, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Mix to coat the apple pieces in all the ingredients. Get a medium non-stick pan and add the butter on medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the apple mixture, stir and cover. Stir this occasionally, but keep covered for most of the time to bake the apples. Cook until the apples are nice and soft.
To serve place a puff pastry square on a small plate and spoon apples with sauce over it. Place a scoop of ice cream on top and finish with some caramel sauce. Delish!

As the days start to get cooler, I tend to go into neutral or gem tone mode. This fringe split sided top caught my eye when I was buying makeup at the Sephora in my JC Penney last week. The Samantha Ronson collection has always been a favorite of mine there because it’s the perfect marriage between trendy and grown-up chic.
This heather gray top is a tunic, so it can be worn in a variety of ways. I’ve worn mine with leggings and boots as well as here with a leather skirt and caged wedge sandals. I also plan to wear it with a scarf and leather jacket when I fly home for Thanksgiving! Not looking forward to how cold it is, but the family and friend time will be so worth it!
Things have been pretty overwhelming lately but I feel as if all the work is worth it. I feel very supported at this new school and oddly enough, I don’t mind the extra hours all that much. Sometimes, however, I do miss all of the long walks Henna and I used to take because now we don’t get to go out as often. I need to work on figuring out a more efficient schedule to incorporate more exercise and time with loved ones. You would think that these things get easier to prioritize as time goes on and experience in the field is gained, but the sad truth is that they never really do.
