Favorite Memories of 2015

Pastel Paisley

2015 has been good to me! I am incredibly thankful for all of the growth and positive changes I’ve experienced this year and look optimistically forward to what to new year has in store for me. What better way to celebrate the upcoming year than to reflect upon all of the fun times that 2015 brought forth? This particular outfit, a casual maxi skirt/silk blouse combo was one of my favorite outfits for late winter/early spring this year. My parents had just come to visit after my dad’s surgery and we enjoyed a late Christmas in January complete with a trip for lunch to our favorite restaurant in Celebration as well as a quick trip to the beach! March brought beautiful flowers and new experiences–meeting new friends and trying new fashion trends like this gorgeously feminine and modest gingham midi skirt! [read the post here]

April was probably the best month this year for us! Nate proposed on April 3rd (1 day after my 4th ‘blogiversary’) at Disney’s Boardwalk in front of both of our families! It was the most amazing day and week to date. Both of our families came to stay the week to celebrate Easter and unbeknownst to me, Nate had this proposal planned since Christmas. After the proposal (I, of course, said yes!) we spent Easter together with both families and had a blast. Mom took these photos of our little family to announce our engagement! Coral High Waisted Shorts

The weather heated up and out came my love of pastels! From scalloped shorts to light leather, I flaunted the trend from work to play. [Read the post here]

The school year ended and so it was time for my annual trip home for a few weeks to spend with family and friends back in Pennsylvania. I came home to visit several newly-engaged and newly-pregnant friends while going to the penninsula, Seawolves baseball games, and spending time at the old watering holes downtown. I always love coming home and visiting; I look forward to it every year! This year, a good friend of mine, Rob Frank, took these photos at our local baseball stadium right around the 4th of July. So patriotic! My brother and Molly were also able to come home so we could celebrate their engagement and my brother’s birthday! It was a great time to be had by all. [Read about it here]

This July, I took a trip with some girlfriends (wonderful & talented blogger ladies Crissy’s Corner, Elle B Styles, and Belle Jheanell) to experience Miami Swim Week for the first time. We had the best time ever! From going backstage at Mara Hoffman in the Versace Mansion to late night pizza runs and Maxim after parties, the fun we had was the stuff of tabloid magazines. “Sometimes, you just have to get away with the girls!” Some things I just wish I would’ve known going into this…here they are!

In early June, I had the chance to be a part of Solutions Bridal’s “Real Woman” shoot. It was honestly an eye-opening experience to be a part of such a strong message while meeting some truly inspiring women. It doesn’t hurt that I got to model this bombshell of a gown from Ines Di Santo!

The very next week, Nate and I visited Miami again for a trip to South Beach, Biscayne Bay, and a social media conference. It was a blast and I found out why people are so obsessed with Wynwood Walls!

Styling a long sleeved romper for fall

This romper was basically my fall uniform and I couldn’t believe I scored it for under $10! This fall, I was a huge fan (still am) of the floppy brimmed hat. [Read the post here]

Teen Vogue Fashion Show Orlando

At the end of the summer, I got the chance to participate in the Teen Vogue Fashion show that debuted at the Florida Mall with some adorable blogger girls! I made friends with my makeup artist, a fashion show veteran from New York City and learned a few fresh-faced skin tricks while donning the season’s trendiest boho styles on the stage!

Like I said, 2015 was good to me. This year, I got a new job offer and can honestly say taking it was the best decision I’ve made in years! I absolutely adore my new school, and am elated with how supportive my administration is and truly blown away by the kindness of the staff and students! This was one of my first outfits worn at the new job! [My love for mustard has no end!]

suede skirt and striped crop top

The fall brought new opportunities with companies I’d never dreamed of and am truly thankful for! I had the opportunity to drive a couple of cars for the company DriveShop including a new Mazda 3 which I purchased just today! I was loving the suede button down skirt trend and paired it with basics like this striped top and denim jacket.

12 days of holiday outfits: What to Wear Christmas Shopping

Holiday shopping was a joy this year with Amazon Prime, but Nate and I still made a couple trips toΒ actually shop at stores where we have to wear pants. Wah wah wahhh… Oh well, just an excuse to put together cute holiday outfits like this!

Here’s to 2015: from new jobs to our engagement, I really can’t complain…it’s been a bang up year.

To 2016: the year we get married and start the next chapter of our lives!

Here’s to wishing all of you your most successful and joyous year yet–you deserve it πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas Eve! Just finished a long day of wrapping, baking, and snacking! Now it’s time to enjoy Christmas movies and piling up presents underneath the tree with family. I’m feeling very lucky to be able to spend quality time with my family this Christmas–it’s been so much fun!

This week, I have the pleasure of taking the 2016 Kia Soul for a test drive courtesy of DriveShop and it’s been an absolute pleasure. Honestly, I’ve heard mixed reviews about this SUV/car hybrid–but actually climbing in one and experiencing it for yourself makes a huge difference.

From cooled leather seats (yes, we need these here in December as Floridians!) to a panoramic sunroof, the features in this thing are unbeatable. The little touches like the colored speakers that bump to music (hello, hamster commercial!) and the Sirius XM radio & Pandora make it perfect for someone who spends a decent amount of time in their car (like me).

Personally, my favorite feature would be the insane navigation system. This baby has it all and made finding stores to last minute Christmas shop in incredibly easy. With great gas mileage and an updated & modern exterior; this car is well worth the money.

Packing our presents for transit was a breeze in the roomy trunk. Even my parents couldn’t get enough!

Enjoy your time with your family and friends this Christmas and I hope you all get everything you want from Santa πŸ™‚ Merry Christmas!

Holiday Drink Recipe: Yule Nog

holiday drink recipe: yule nog

Seasons greetings! It’s that time of year again and I know you’re all looking for new ways to take your festivities to the next level. Missy and I have always enjoyed eggnog; it really helps us get into the Christmas spirit! And since we found lactose free eggnog for Missy to enjoy, I thought it would be fun to make the next recipe post a wonderful egg nog drink to wow all your holiday guests (…I’ll find any excuse to drink–’tis the season, right?). So, here we go again! Let’s make ourselves a Yule Nog!

1 oz Cognac

1 oz Spiced Rum

2.5 oz Eggnog

Chocolate Syrup

Cinnamon Sugar

Cinnamon Stick

Fresh Grated Nutmeg

holiday drink recipe: yule nog

Start by getting the glass ready. Wet the rim with chocolate syrup. This not only adds to the flavor of the drink, but also creates the perfect base to adding the cinnamon sugar to the rim…now that’s what I call using your “noggin” (…groan). After dunking the rim in the chocolate syrup, place it into cinnamon sugar to “frost” the rim. You can use the pre-made cinnamon sugar from the store, but I prefer to make it by mixing 1 part cinnamon to 3 parts white sugar. Let’s get things shaking!

holiday drink recipe: yule nog

Next, grab your cocktail shaker and add some ice to it. Then, add the spiced rum, cognac, and egg nog. Screw the lid on and get to shakin’! Keep going until your hands get uncomfortably cold and then pour it out into your previously rimmed glass. Fair warning: this drink is strong. I love the way the flavors of the cognac and the spiced rum interact with the egg nog, but if you prefer to not taste the alcohol portion as much you can adjust the ratio of ingredients to your liking (try 1/2 oz cognac, 1/2 oz spiced rum, and 3 oz egg nog, for example). Dress the drink up with the fresh nutmeg and a cinnamon stick…because your holiday party is not a success until everyone is taking instagram photos of the drinks you make them. Why wouldn’t they if they look like this:

By the beard of Santa…now that’s a holiday drink! Wonderfully sweet and warms you up from head to toe. Perfect for any of your holiday activities like wrapping gifts, hosting a holiday party, or washing away the stress from fighting the crowds at the mall (seriously, I really needed it this year). Missy and I hope you all enjoy your time with your friends and family, and that you enjoy a Yule Nog while you do it! Happy Holidays!
