I’m loving lipsticks lately! I was always kind of a “just a little lipgloss” gal, but this year it’s a horse of a different color. Tending to gravitate toward the bolder, brighter shades, it’s often difficult for me to simply brush on a nude color now. It’s like my makeup consultant says–once you go bold, you don’t go back! I know now that she’s absolutely right!
These are my absolute favorite lipsticks that I wear all the time. Probably my top two favorite would be Make Up For Ever’s #38 and Mac’s Creme Cup. I recently wore Creme Cup in a wedding this past weekend. It’s a mix of nude and bright pink and it’s a brilliant matte lipstick. Perfect for everyday wear! My go-to color when I want a punch of spring-y brights would be the Make Up For Ever #38- it’s a silky peachy pink/coral. I love how smooth it goes on- in that regard it is my favorite pick. It doesn’t get all chalky like most lipsticks do.
The only red lipstick I will ever get (okay, maybe I should never say never) is Revlon’s “Really Red” Matte. This bold red hue has undertones of orange and is universally perfect on EVERY skin tone. No joke. I’ve never seen anyone wear it and it not look absolutely gorgeous. Someone suggested this to me a little over a year ago, and Really Red and I have been in a long term relationship ever since.
My favorite nude is Revlon’s “Soft Nude”. I mix it with Revlon’s Peach Petal gloss for a smooth finish. I love the pinky nude color of this shade. I feel weird about nude lipsticks a lot of times- they tend to make you look like a ghost if you don’t find the right shade!
I recently tried Mac Pink Nouveau, and the Barbie pink look is my new obsession! When I first tried it, it was a big adjustment. You would think that this shade wouldn’t look great or somehow wouldn’t fit, but really it does. I downplay my eyes and don this lipstick with my hair down long and simple. I would never wear it for work, but it’s perfect for a night out on the town.
I just tried Kate Moss’s new line and loved the orange-coral shade of #109. This is one that works well for day if you only swipe on one shade. Two or more and it’s a little more vivid-but still pretty.
