As some of you may already know, Nate and I are getting married! Yep, it’s true–he asked me if I would be his wife on April 3rd, 2015 at Disney’s Boardwalk and it was everything I ever dreamed it would be.
With that being said, I’m finding out that there’s a whole lot more to wedding planning than what we had both originally thought. So many different expenses and details that no one seems to talk about when they’re blissfully going about their days “ooo-ing & awww-ing” at the engagement stories while questions of “where’s it going to be?”, “what’s the cake look like?”, and “where will you be traveling to for your honeymoon?” dominate the conversation pool.
However, with all of this muss and fuss I’ve tried to look for the fun in every little piece of our planning. One of the most rewarding parts would have to be deciding on a bridal party and then taking time to compile individual gifts that reflect and pay tribute to the relationships we’ve fostered between friends.
Personally, both Nate and I love to create little “grab bag” types of gifts because we think it’s more fun that way! I mean, who wouldn’t want to open a bunch of fun & meaningful personalized gifts? It means more!
For our gift ideas, we thought of two common aspects that both the guys & gals would both appreciate– a little booze & a long and enjoyable smoke to be enjoyed in the company of friends.
Cubero cigars were the perfect choice for so many reasons–from the choices in flavors (we grabbed “mocha” [blend 12] for the guys and “sweet” [blend 25) for the gals) to their dual packaging–we knew all of the members of our bridal party would appreciate them. They’re not too heavy and taste so light & satisfying, which is important–especially when the ladies are involved. While we love the taste of a thick cigar; the richness and full mouth feel can often turn us off. These were perfect in size, taste, and longevity.
For my gift idea, I went with girly items (naturally), including bright nail polish colors, a file, sparkly earrings (who doesn’t love a classic earring), some pink moscato bubbly, and Cubero blend 35 cigars (my girls and I often hit the cigar bar downtown after we go out and grab the fruity/sweet ones!)
For Nate’s gift idea, he went with matches, a cigar cutter, mostly mocha (blend 12) cigars, and a little bottle of premium scotch (dudes love it–hey, what do I know?) in a classic rocks glass. According to Nate, every guy should have a few in his arsenal.
They also work just swimmingly if you’re looking to scoop up some classic guys’ gifts for stocking stuffers! My guy loves the bourbon or scotch anything, recipe books, man grooming materials, and cigars of course.
