How to Wear a Choker Necklace

The 90s are back guys! Honestly, I’m a little psyched. The days of bell bottoms, chokers, and patches are back in full force with no signs of stopping. Seeing as how these are the trends I was down for in 5th grade, it’s safe to say I’m down to give them another whirl now as as an adult.

Chokers are on the scene again, but this time with a bolo twist. The woven stretchy chokers of the past have gotten a serious upgrade and are now taking more of a high-end form. From wrap chokers adorned with natural stones to metallic finishes, these days the go-to necklace is getting chicer by the minute.

With all these different designs, the choker has become a staple that is versatile enough to work with virtually any outfit.

Classics never die–a cape with a black and white striped top looks polished with a thick black choker.

A wrap choker looks posh for work when paired with suede trousers and a sheer neutral blouse.

Lace up tops work well to complement a thin black choker, especially when a trench coat is involved! Talk about mixing dressy and casual!

Mixing old and new choker styles with a lariat necklace keeps a basic outfit unexpected.

Metallic gold chokers steal center stage when worked with neutrals and a vibrant pair of sunnies.

Give ’em the cold shoulder by pairing a choker with some leather skinnies and stylish ankle boots with hardcore hardware.

Roll with a 70s vibe by playing with color and retro sillhouettes. A choker with a pendant adds a laid-back feeling to a pop of color and trendy button up skirt.

Suede moto jackets work well anytime–combine them with a choker and black skinnies to make the look your weekend uniform.
