So, in an effort to better myself this year, I thought I’d explore new opportunities to make fashion meaningful in other ways that simply “looking good”. To that effect, I’ve opened my eyes to some new companies out there who make it their life’s work to make sure others needs are being met.
The first company I’ve come across I’ve had the privilege of working with: Noonday Collection. Started in 2011, Jessica Honegger began making jewelry as a way to afford to adopt her son from Rwanda. Since then, it has exploded into a revolution to help poverty-stricken families in Uganda, Ethiopia, and Ecuador while creating beautiful and unique pieces of artistic jewelry in the process.
I was greatly taken aback by how earthy and tribal these pieces feel. Some of my favorites–The Gatsby Necklace and Sea Stone earrings are right on track with this spring’s metallic and royal blue trends.
This dress was a recent find from Marshalls this spring and I’m loving the cutout details and naturally–the aztec pattern. It’s always clutch to have a comfy white cotton dress to throw on those days you’re not sure what to wear. Today, it was 70 and windy so I threw on a jean jacket and some western-style leather booties.
Anyways…I hope you all have had a relaxing and rejuvenating weekend! I’m sad that my 9 day “spring break” has ended and that I am returning to work tomorrow but I think I’m ready for it. I do miss the students! It’s definitely been a week packed with reading, relaxing by the pool, going out to eat (okay, a little too much!), and spending time with Nate and the roomies. We’ve had a ton of fun.
