Last weekend, Nate and I had the pleasure of visiting friends in Nashville and getting to spend some time exploring the city! We went to surprise his best friend for his birthday and stayed about 4 days. The weather warmed up a bit from normal and we had a blast! Besides standing in line for 15 minutes waiting for a photo with this wall (below), everything was awesome! Styling a fringe jacket was definitely one of the perks to livin’ it up in a country western city!
I mean, c’mon–how can you not want a picture with this mural?! Rumor has it, the mural was defaced a couple of weeks prior to our visit but thankfully it was restored quickly! I tell ya, the number of bachelorette parties posing in front of this baby is beyond anything you could even imagine. Call me basic, but I just had to grab a photo here. But I’m talkin’ grab and go because we spent literally about 15 seconds before it was time for us to move out of the way! Haha!
I don’t know about you, but when I think of Nashville, I think of country music and western wear (think: cowboy boots). Although this isn’t a novel concept, again the basic in me took hold and I had to dress the part. I’ve had this jacket for a few months now and it’s just one of those pieces you want to wear but haven’t quite found the right occasion for it yet. I figured going to a town like Nashville was the perfect excuse to bust it out for a twirl.
To really make the fringe jacket pop, I paired it with an “aztec” type printed dress in a darker color. The copper brown color plays nicely with different shades of blue. For shoes, I wanted to sport my new CAT Footwear blue ankle booties because they work with the western vibe perfectly and they’re probably the closest my style will come to actual cowboy boots.
The detailing on these booties is so gorgeous! I love the double buckles on the side and the contrasting stitching with studs spread sporadically throughout the design. They’re surprisingly comfortable and made for heavy wear. I could definitely see me wearing them in the summer with a band tee and cutoff denim shorts!
We had so much fun with our friends in Nashville! I hope to go back soon! True to form, I just had to have a burger at Burger Up–I got a bison burger and it was unbelievable. Their gin cocktails were out of this world too–I got the one with a little sprig of rosemary in it and it was very smooth and tasty. We even got to visit Reese Witherspoon’s store Draper James and I pretty much wanted every top and dress in the joint–until I checked out the price tags. I would love one of her pieces, but it’s definitely one of those “gotta save up to splurge” types of situations!
