86th Annual Academy Awards - Arrivals

Inspired by Emma Watson’s red carpet look at the 2014 Academy Awards, I decided to do my own take on the understated classic shimmer gown. Watson’s always been a favorite of mine style-wise. I love her effortlessly chic looks and can appreciate her love for a good red lipstick!

My very favorite dress Watson wore was an all-white asymmetrical Burberry number at the Met Gala in 2010. Check it out!  Can I have that in my size please?! Hot, hot, hot!

This year, Emma kept it classic in this conservative, but oh-so-lovely floor-length gown that just screams sophistication. I’m loving her side-swept ‘do and red lips. The rings just are the cherry on top that make me love her edgy style even more!

In re-creating her look, I found this designer dress at my TJ Maxx in Orlando and added a simple red lip. Nothing more was really needed to make this dress stand out–the shimmer and body-hugging cut makes it stand out just by itself. To add some funk, I grabbed these designer cutout peep toe sandals at Marshalls and fell in love. Hot diggity, I finally have me a pair of going-out shoes! {Not that I ever go out–sigh.}

I love the idea of letting your dress be the jewelry as Emma did here with her gray shimmery gown. It’s tough for me not to grab a statement necklace (it’s kinda my thing if you haven’t noticed, haha) but lately, I’ve been trying to gravitate more toward the statement earrings. In this case, the neckline was more conducive for earrings anyway.

P.S.–how good were the Oscars this year?! I’m convinced Ellen should host every awards show. I was dying about the pizza bit; especially when Brad Pitt started handed out plates. She’s hilarious and the selfie shot of all the celebs was the best!
