I’m basically blind from how bright this blazer is! I fell in love with this little puppy a couple of weeks ago on my trip to Buffalo. I made out like a bandit at Forever 21 that day.
I picked this floral dress up from Abercrombie & Fitch about two weeks ago for $14. Unheard of! I haven’t really frequented in there much since I was an Assistant Manager there in 2008. It seems weird to think that my style has changed so much since then. As I walked in the other day I noticed that there isn’t a whole lot of color and print options. (More than before, but there just isn’t any freedom of choice!)
Earlier this week, I came across an article written about A&F’s CEO Mike Jeffriees (Read it here) and I was mortified. The comments this man makes consistently regarding his target demographic are unbelievable, yet not altogether surprising. I am a firm believer that your body has nothing to do with how you should be perceived and your style should reflect you as an individual. Everyone has the freedom to wear whatever they choose and I don’t believe that wearing only clothes from one particular store allows you to express that individuality. Anyone who buys into that philosophy has a skewed view of life and has a lot of growing up to do.
Unfortunately, growing up I fell victim to this train of thought. I feel as if many teens feel this way for the majority of their teenage years, and those who are comfortable expressing their individuality is far ahead of the curve. You should always be respected no matter what size you are and be happy with the gifts YOU have to offers others. Yes, I write about clothes and absolutely love styling but I do it as a way to express myself and have fun. No one should ever dress for anyone but themselves!
Anyways, rant over. My apologies. These things tend to get me “up in arms” so to speak. On a positive note–don’t forget to enter this fabulous giveaway I’m hosting with several of my favorite bloggers!
