I was going to save this outfit for our trip to Cuba but I just couldn’t help it! You guys–if you haven’t been to Old Navy lately, do yourself a favor and get your booty there ASAP! They’re killin’ it this summer! I do go to Old Navy every now and then to check out their staples but there’s a ton of (ironic, I know) “Havana Nights” themed clothing including this fit & flare black floral dress that is so airy and light! I feel like I’m pretty much going to be living in this on our trip!
Because I know we’re going to be doing a lot of walking, I’ve done my best to scope out shoes that are flat and comfy so that my feet won’t be hurting as we take in all the sights! These striped Soludos espadrilles were just the ticket because they have back support with the strap that goes surprisingly tight enough so that they stay on. I’ve become a bit of an espadrille addict lately as I now have the moccasin boho version that tie around the ankle, the pineapple ones, and now these. I will say, though, if you are going to buy with this company, you should go a half size up. The shoe tends to slide your foot forward, so while I’m normally a size 7.5, I get the 8s every time with this brand.
You pretty much have to twirl when you wear a fit & flare dress. I have so many of these babies in my wardrobe due to their pear-flattering nature. It’s like wearing a long tank top. I like that you don’t have to wear a bra with this dress–you never see cleavage and it’s tight enough to keep the girls in–score!
The back of this dress is a bit stretchy, which is helpful, not to mention–comfortable! This is also the first time I’m debuting my new Cult Gaia ark bag on the blog. I finally broke down and got it last week and I have to say that I’m happy I did!
Even though I’m usually more of a messenger bag or satchel girl, this is such a breath of fresh air in terms of uniqueness. This bag is actually very intricately crafted and can hold way more than you think. The only thing I was a little weary of would be the obvious little slits in the bag, but as long as you have all of your cards in a wallet, they stay secure.
I think I could get used to not have the strap, but I kind of do miss not having my hands free at all times. This definitely isn’t the kind of bag I’d tote around Disney, but for dinners out and bouncing around town–it works!
I’ve been getting a lot of use out of this new ombre beaded necklace! It’s funny, I don’t know if you’re the same way as me, but when I find a piece that works (from jewelry to tops and literally anything else!) I tend to try to buy every comparable color! This is a fresh take on the statement necklace without all the rhinestones and crazy colors. I like that it puts the outfit together nicely while complementing a print (not overshadowing it). Charming Charlie and Baublebar are good places for this type of necklace–you’ll pay around $19-$38 depending on the material and where you get it.
I had to top off the look with a hat–it just seemed more like a “vacation outfit” this way! I’ve had this hat I call the “Panama” since forever (and yes, I sing it like the Van Halen song–just ask Nate). I bought it for around $12 and it’s gotten a lot of use over the years!
Have you taken your vacation so far this summer or are you planning to? We’ll be going to Cuba over Labor Day weekend–I just can’t wait! I hope to take another trip to St. Augustine & Key West this summer too!
Here’s to a new and positive week ahead of us! I hope you get everything off your to-do list (I know how good that feels!!) and have a glass of vino to celebrate (because let’s get real–even if you don’t get through your list, you deserve it!). Sending positive vibes your way!
