Ahhh, faux leather. My favorite way to add edgy appeal to a prim and proper outfit. Honestly, I had this outfit on this morning to go to work, but I had to switch out the leather and tweed jacket to don a white leopard cardigan simply because it’s still scorching hot around here. (Still not complaining!)

A piece like this leather jacket need to stand on its own and be the star of the outfit. That being said, I thought it would be appropriate to keep the color palette (or lack thereof) benign. Black and white seemed to keep this piece chic and classic rather while adding an appropriate amount of “edge” to an office-appropriate outfit. Score.

I’m growing tired of throwing on the same ‘ole cardigans day after day at work to combat the air conditioning. A leather/tweed blending jacket like this is a dressier way to add some warmth when the air conditioning kicks in/weather gets cooler; and it’s a nice way to switch things up a bit.

This black pencil skirt has served me well since I bought it at the beginning of the season. For a cool $17, I find myself able to pair it with brights, prints, and standout pieces like this jacket while keeping my bottom [pear] half looking trim and put together. Gotta love a little optical illusion 😉

Okay, so don’t make fun of me but I bought these shoes at the airport. What can I say? Our layover from Charlotte took too long so I decided to go a little nuts and raid the Gap clearance section. (Like I don’t do so enough already). Scoring these babies for about ten bucks I was pretty chipper while I boarded my flight for Orlando in August. There’s ALWAYS enough room in your carry-on for an extra pair of shoes. True story.

Naturally, I had to brighten the look up with a little lippy-stick. Maybe it’s a coincidence that my nails match. Okay, I’m not that good, but I was pretty psyched when I noticed this after shooting these pics. This is one of my favorite shades of red/orange. I tend to use this when the weather is hot instead of my normal blue/red blend. It’s called Wet N’ Wild Stoplight Red. I’m always surprised by how smooth and true to color this lipstick line is. I have collected quite the haul lately. Yep, another confession: I’m a sucker for the drugstore isles and drugstore makeup is a guilty pleasure of mine.

I’m so excited because my mom comes tomorrow! She decided to hop a flight last minute to come and visit us and I couldn’t be more psyched! Time for shopping, dinners out/dinners in, and hanging around the pool! Love it!

Guess what day it is! HUMP DAYYYYY!
