I am so excited to announce that Nate asked me to marry him last Friday and I (of course) said “yes”! So, in true new “bride-to-be” fashion, I’m going to get really sappy and share the whole story with you because I’m still floating on cloud 9!
Well, both of our families came to Florida to spend Easter vacation with us last week and so we were really exited to spend time with them. His sister had purchased a photo package at Christmastime that was to be used during the family’s trip to Florida for professional photos. We’ve been excited about this for months and it felt really great to have both of our families around while we had some time off.
Anyways, we spend the week hiking, swimming, cooking, playing music, and visiting up until the “day of”. Last Friday, April 3rd, was the day the family photos were to be taken. So, we packed up the car and both families drove to Disney’s Boardwalk for our group photos. I was loving Sivian Photography and how resourceful they were when it came to changing up the backgrounds to fit our needs.
Finally, we walked around the wooded area and the photographer suggested we have some different couples photos. They took photos of all the different couples and the family, until finally they got to Nate and I.
The second to last photo was the last photo she took before he got down on one knee. He bent down, and I (as naive as I am sometimes) started to bend down too, thinking we were going to just sit for the photos.
He started his speech about how he thought now would be the most perfect time to ask me to marry him while both of our families are here in Florida. As soon as he started, I saw him shaking and tears in his eyes. Immediately, I started to cry. He picked me up and both our families started cheering, while Sivian snapped this black and white photo (my very favorite!).
It was the most perfect day I could ever imagine. Right afterward, Nate took me to Clearwater/Tampa Bay for lunch and cocktails while we celebrated–just us two. I couldn’t have ever asked for a better day.
The weekend didn’t end there–when we got home last Friday, we found that our families had decorated the house for an impromptu engagement party! We spent the evening jamming (his family loves to sing and they’re amazing at playing basically every instrument) and visiting by the pool. Easter was even more awesome when we got to do it all again, only this time adding more family and friends.
Easter Sunday, we decided to take some quick engagement photos (of course we had to include our Henna!) right by our neighborhood. Nate and I are so thrilled to start this incredible journey and I can’t wait to document our experiences along the way!
Can we relive this again?!
