When TJ Maxx asked me to style an outfit based on one of the 5 most popular trends this season I was psyched! Nothing beats styling a trend you truly love. For me, it’s neon. I’ve loved the trend ever since I was little and I’m loving the feminine makeover it’s getting this summer. To make the trend classy and ladylike, neon has recently been spotted in little pops of colors as seen in pieces like this bag by Jessica Simpson and popping through this navy lace dress.
In order not to overdo the trend, it’s so fun to find pieces like these strappy low-heeled sandals that just have a little bit of neon poking out amongst neutrals and navy. You don’t have to look like a Lisa Frank notebook when you wear neon! I was amazed when I found 3 pieces at my local TJ Maxx that seemed to be just mean for one another. I’m obsessed with all the beautiful, affordable, and colorful pieces I’ve been finding there lately! I’ve been wearing these sandals with everything from maxi dresses to silk palazzo pants!
For me, it’s all about the unexpected when I get dressed. I love having that one piece or factor in an outfit that no one expects or that seems a little “out of place”. The slight neon embellishments in this straw bag make it perfect for night when mixed with something so feminine and delicate as this lace dress. I’m loving how the little sleeves make the shorter hemline more modest. I wanted to coordinate the rest of the outfit by adding a simple (well, for me!) neon and rhinestone necklace and these Tommy Hilfiger sandals. No need to pile on layers in this heat!
Accessories had to be demure with all of this bright color going on, so my new monogrammed Marley Little rope bracelet was simple enough to add some personality without being overbearing! Of course I was inspired by one of my absolute favorite bloggers, Helena Glazer of Brooklyn Blonde who partnered with TJ Maxx in this super fun video about summer style!
