5 Spring/Summer Trends I Won’t Be Trying
Cropped Gauchos
Okay, in all fairness, I did just buy a pair of silk trousers (full length!) from Forever 21 on vacation last week but hear me out. These mid-length silk disasters are heinous on just about everyone. They are not flattering and I feel as if every pair of shoes I look at with them just accentuate their ugliness. I mean, I’d probably wear these to bed but I’d run the risk of my dog or my bed sheets making fun of me.
Flatforms
This is a special breed of ugly. These little puppies were probably made popular by dirty hippies ages ago and let’s be honest–the added “height” isn’t making your legs look any better. You’re basically wearing flats on stilts reminiscent of the Spice Girls (Yeah, remember these?! I try to forget too). Do yourself a favor and steer clear. Better to go with a completely flat embellished sandal (sans platform) or opt for a heel.
Eclectic Printed Sunnies
Now you know I’m all about the sunnies but these are just some that I just can’t seem to get down with. I’m loving classic “prints” and textures like tortoise but these wild mosaic-looking ones are just too far out there for me to get into. They look cheap and too juvenile to pass for classy and posh. What do you think?
Embellished Hoop Earrings
Not being a huge fan of hoops to begin with, this trend was doomed with me from the beginning. I’m all for a classic pair of gold or silver hoops but these border on cheesy. Definitely not feeling the little stars or any other shape you could imagine doodling on the inside of your Lisa Frank notebook from 5th grade. Keep this trend neatly confined to your belly rings, please.
Ear Cuffs
Oh, man. This is the mother load. Best for last, I guess! I’m hating these with every ounce of my being. Every time I see this in a magazine or on the internet I immediately wonder when we’re launching into space. I mean, I could only hope that this trend is a gimmick to promote that new Star Trek movie. Yikes! No matter how ornate or “beautiful” the diamonds/rhinestones appear to be in these, I just can’t seem to understand why these are so popular right now when they’re just way too gaudy!
These are just my opinions on trends not to wear and I have no intention of offending anyone who may be into any of these trends. Please don’t take offense! 🙂

Whhhhhy. I will add baseball caps (unless you’re playing sports or engaging in physical activity), Tom’s (I know they’re for a good cause, but I just can’t) and sneaker wedges.
