Red Flats and Jeans + Favery Giveaway Winner!

This was the kind of morning when I woke up in sweltering heat (that is when I walked out of the air conditioning!) and figured I’d dress for the weather. I put on this new silk ruffle neck tank and went on my way. I made sure to grab a cropped cardigan just to make sure because you never know in this weather! Sure enough, not even an hour into work it started raining and getting dark outside! I’m so glad I dressed for this crazy, nutty weather!

It was also one of those days when I wanted to go minimalist. One of my favorite things to do is pop a little bit of color from a top in my accessories (be it lipstick or jewelry) and/or my shoes. Colorful flats are my absolute favorite shoes to wear to work- they’re comfortable and give just the right amount of color and mobility.

To pull it all together I added my favorite standby lipstick–Revlon Really Red in matte. I love this stuff because you just need one coat and no gloss to make a statement lip. The shade goes with virtually any skin tone and is perfect for wearing alone or with neutral eye makeup.

As for the giveaway: the winner of the gorgeous stackable Favery bracelet is.. [drum roll please…] ERIKA W.! Congratulations! Email me for details 🙂

Lace Bralette + Backless Tank Weekend Wear

weekend wear

Hot weekends call for nice cool and loose clothing! I’ve been living in this bralette ever since I bought it for vacation in Florida! The peachy color seems to add a subtle hint of color to dresses, tanks, and tees. Backless tanks seem to be made for this type of bra. I have two now–one in tie dye and this new aztec-printed one.

One of the ways I find to style simple things in the summer like a tank and shorts is to add interest with jewelry. These two necklaces work well together because one has the pop of color and the other has the sparkle to make it glow!

Gingham and Paisley

gingham and paisley

In the interest of wearing something other than green (funny how a color I hated is quickly turning out to be the most-worn color in my closet this summer) I opted for pink today! Being that gingham is my most favorite print (sorry leopard, I’m cheating on you!), I hard to sport it with my new paisley headband.

I find it tough sometimes to put together an interesting outfit in the summertime, mostly I think because we rely so much on layering in the cooler months, it’s tough to create that depth and interest while relying solely on prints, textures, and color. It’s getting easier though with the print mixing trend. More and more, I’m finding it tougher to NOT put together an outfit with mixed prints lately!

With the weather being so on and off, deciding whether or not to wear shorts is a difficult decision in the morning. I bought these high-waisted jean cutoffs while on vacation in Florida earlier this month and today was the first time I was able to wear them outside! Sporting this gingham shirt allowed me to roll up the sleeves when the sun was out and put them down when it went back behind the clouds.

These new metallic flat sandals were just what I needed to round out my sandal collection this summer. These flats surprisingly are about as comfy as a new pair of sneakers with their cushion on the heel and toe. I could imagine walking in these all day and never having blisters. The metallic finish is what immediately caught my eye–anything metallic has me awe-struck ever since last winter! The double side buckle and metallic toe make these the perfect alternative to a neutral sandal and I’m thinkin’ that metallic is quickly replacing leopard as the new “neutral” this season!

Gingham and paisley is another combination that seem to fit together like peas and carrots! I love all of the fun colors in this paisley headband. It was a smooth transition, let me tell ya from the gym to this outfit. I wore this headband with my new magenta workout top and compression pants. Sometimes being stylish (or trying to be!) at the gym is the motivation I need to make sure I have a good workout! Today, it definitely helped drag my tired butt to the gym to do some much-needed squats. Who saves fashion doesn’t save?!
