Celebration & Little Black Dress

The other day my family and I visited a little town called Celebration which is right outside of Disney.  We had a blast seeing the “snow” fall and watching the kids skate on the “ice rink” which was made out of plastic.

For the occasion, we decided to dress to the nines, which included this fabulous bow back dress from Marshalls that I also wore for Nate and my date in Orlando shortly before. This baby is so elegant and needs little to make it stand out any more than it does. I opted for a long Audrey Hepurn-esque pearl necklace, red lips, and leopard-print flats because we knew we would be doing a lot of walking around.

We went to dinner at a little wine emporium and had some delicious flatbread and a bottle of Merlot. We had such a good time, it’s nice having family around the holidays!

I hope you all have a fantastic New Year’s Eve tomorrow! I think we’re planning on just staying in and having crab cakes and filet mignon! Sounds wonderful to me 🙂

Oh, by the way, I found this awesome article about forgetting what’s in the past and knowing how to start the new year off right with a clear mind and an open heart. Read it here!

Plaid & Metallic

This gold stripe tank top could probably walk to the bus stop and go downtown for as much as I’ve been wearing it lately! From this new plaid/metallic scarf Nate got me for Christmas to my camo loafers I’ve sported it with pretty much everything since I got it a week ago. Talk about a repeat!

I really do love finding a piece that can stand alone or mesh well with others when you want to layer. Today it was just too easy to put this tank on and layer with my new navy cardigan, favorite jeans and metallic extras like these loafers and my Kate Spade tote.

Mom and I went to the Premium Outlets in Orlando to exchange a pair of running shoes and to check out the deals. I’m sorry to say that it took us literally 2 hours to get there when in reality it should’ve taken us about 20 minutes. Well, I guess that’s the breaks when you decide to go shopping the day after Christmas! But, we had a good time anyway.

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! We spent the day relaxing, playing games together and vegging out on some scrumptious ribs and snacks. I’m so thankful to have been able to spend the day with my family. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend for sure!

Holiday Party Wear

Christmas is almost here! I’m so excited I can hardly breathe. Tomorrow is my last day at work until the infamous “Christmas break” and I can’t wait. It’s going to be so nice to spend time with family and just relax!

We’re thinking of having a “summer meal” on Christmas day as a nod to the Floridian weather. So much different than we’re used to!

For my holiday party wear I decided to go with my favorite leather leggings from DKNY and mix it up by adding a traditional (and gorgeous, I might add!) holiday sweater and a festive tartan scarf. Mixing materials is so much fun and unexpected! Definitely more exciting to wear leather than traditional jeans to a party! Plus these are way more comfortable than a dress and tights!

I’m loving Old Navy lately! I cleaned house last weekend and got a sequin skirt, some flats, a bunch of colored cardigans, and some workout wear. Naturally, I couldn’t ignore the holiday wear either! I’m been coveting this sweater for a long time. It reminds me of one from JCrew a few years ago. Something about it just screams sitting around a fire, cozy, with some hot cocoa. Ahh, that sounds good right about now!

I also grabbed some buffalo-checked button up shirts. I’ve been layering them a lot lately with sweaters like this one and mixing it up with some edgy skirts and ankle boots. I love this time of the year–layering is my favorite. So many chances to be creative and colorful at the same time.

So, what are you doing for the holidays? We’re going to a little town called Celebration this Saturday and eating a nice dinner at a wine emporium. They have a fake “snowfall” and a concert by Ryan Cabrera (remember him?!). Such a nice way to kick off my extra long Christmas vacation with family!
