festival style

Festivals are finally here! ย This weekend my best friend and I are venturing to Pittsburgh to see Dave Matthews Band. I can’t wait; it’s going to be awesome! These 3 weeks back home (in PA) have been really fun and I’ve been trying to pack in everything I possibly can up here before returning to the Sunshine State on Monday.

Anyhow, I’ve been loving how every store lately seems to be displaying boho-western types of styles. Right up my alley! The faded looks with global prints and sunshine-ready pieces have me smiling every time I shop (which is an obnoxious amount; I really should work on that).

Although I was a little hesitant to expose the “midriff” with crop tops/corsets like this one, I decided to go outside my box and give them a whirl. I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort and fit. This particular one seems to go with the high-waisted chambray circle skirt like peas and carrots. With a bottom-heavy body like mine, I get a little skeptical to try shorter skirts and crop tops. But with a high-waisted cut like this skirt, only a little belly is exposed which is about all I can handle being almost 30 years old. Can’t believe I just said that. YIKES.

Well, I hope your summer is going swimmingly and that you’re packing it with lots of time with family, friends, good food, music, and outdoor fun. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy your week!

C’est La Vie

Graphic tees with cute little saying are trending now and most of them seem to take a French twist. This “C’est la vie” sweater is a piece I’ve been coveting for awhile now (well, since it sold out on Forever21.com) and I was overjoyed to finally find it on my favorite app, Poshmark.ย

If you haven’t already done so, stop reading and go download it. Seriously. Best place to sell/buy new or used clothes and accessories I’ve ever found. I should be getting paid by them for how much I shamelessly tell everyone I know about their site.

Anyways, I digress. After having purchased these chambray “joggers” today, I’m having mixed thoughts. You ever try something on in the store (I swear they all have trick mirrors!) and then wear it at home (or in this case in a photograph AND at home) only to find that you look wider than the Empire State? Well, that’s kinda where I’m at. Unfortunately, they are way too comfortable and light to return, so I’m trying my best to figure out a decent top to balance out the width of these pants.

Any advice?!

Printed Playsuit

Okay, so I think you’ve discovered my guilty pleasure by looking at the last few posts. Maybe I do like playsuits/jumpsuits/rompers a little too much. Whatever–no shame in my game!

I found this little ditty the other day at Marshalls (seriously, were you surprised?) and had to give it a whirl; mainly because it reminded me of ones from Mara Hoffman’s recent collection. (While we’re on the topic, could they please be a little bit more affordable so I can wear them instead of drool over them?)

I think the long, drapey sleeves with the shorts on this playsuit made it look just a little more ‘grown up’ and sophisticated. With a print this busy, I didn’t really want to go crazy with accessories. This beaded tassel necklace did the trick just fine. Whenever I show my legs, I always feel the need to wear some sort of heel/wedge. With muscular legs, I run the risk of looking chubby/stubby when I don flats with shorts like this. Maybe it’s all in my head, but whatever makes ya feel better, right?

So tell me–are you feelin’ the jumpsuit trend this summer? One piece and you’re basically done, right? I know I’ve run into several people while buying these lately who have strong opinions one way or the other. Often I get this “yeah I keep seeing people buying these/seen them on the rack and think they’re adorable but I could NEVER pull them off!” Let’s get serious, girls–short of ill-fitting clothes and bad 80s trends we can all pretty much pull of anything with some confidence and the right shoes ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have an awesome week everyone! I’m off to have some wings with my best friend! Loving being home ๐Ÿ™‚
