A Year to Celebrate

I’m not usually one of those people who go crazy for Christmas right around Halloween, but this year for some reason, I can’t wait! 2016 has definitely proven to be a year for the books–from getting married, to buying our first house, standing up with my brother and sister-in-law at their wedding, celebrating my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary & my father’s 70th birthday, and spending time with the ones we love we sure have had an incredibly busy year!

After six years of being together, Nate and I finally tied the knot this year at our dream Gatsby-themed wedding. Surrounded by friends & family from Pennsylvania to Florida, we got hitched on a beautiful lake during a ceremony that was anything but ordinary. His father, an ordained minister, married us with the most beautiful words & coupled it with a surprise sing-a-long via one of our  favorite Beatles’ songs.

It was one of those moments when you react exactly the opposite of how you’d anticipated you would. For the longest time, I imagined myself breaking down in tears as I walked down the aisle, but as soon as I saw my husband to be, this unbelievable wave of relief and certainty washed over me; I knew this is exactly what should be.

The love and appreciation I have for him is unmatched. He truly is my best friend and I know that phrase gets thrown around a lot, but in this case we really do pretty much everything together and actually crave more.

I feel very thankful that our move to Florida in 2013 only built us up stronger as a couple and that we have grown together exponentially ever since. Every chapter since our beginning in 2010 when we met during a summer job has changed us as people, and only for the better. We’ve grown through changing jobs, promotions, buying a house, building the blog, and creating a new life 1,200 miles away from home.

This Christmas, I am so excited to be spending time with him decorating our first home together as we cook a meal for family and friends and enjoy the perfect end to a year where we’ve celebrated so many milestones.

I love giving creative and meaningful holiday cards to those I care about around Christmastime–and this time I’m going with some of the beautiful designs from the Hallmark Signature collection. The pop up art is incredibly cute and definitely “hang up on the wall” worthy. Nate and my relationship definitely isn’t “ordinary” and so I knew only a card totally “out of the ordinary” would do! Now, I just have to find the perfect gift to go with it!

In addition to cards with personal messages worth saving, Nate and I love to get each other meaningful ornaments and collect ones that mean something to us. Christmas is such a special time of year and I just can’t wait to squeeze out every ounce of joy the season will bring. Here’s so a new year with even more beautiful and adventurous milestones to celebrate!
