How to Pack for a Weekend Trip

Nate and I are so excited for our weekend trip to Miami in a few days! It’s one of our favorite places to go because of the scenery, food, and awesome photo spots. But sometimes, packing can be a big stressor that I put off until the last minute.

When I know I’m only staying for a few days, packing in consolidation is of the utmost importance. I like to take a few bottoms and a few tops that are completely interchangeable. This way, packing can be a whole lot simpler AND I save a lot of space.

The key here is finding a neutral top that works with anything but also has personality. Enter this tassel-adorned grey top. It’s lightweight, cool, and goes with pretty much anything. It’s something that can be worn alone, with a few accessories, or an interesting topper like a military jacket.

I also like to take two pairs of shorts (especially when heading into warmer weather). I always grab my go-to denim cutoff shorts and a pair of interesting/comfortable ones. They double as pajamas!

It is imperative that I pack a pair of comfortable shoes and a fun pair of showstoppers because–why not?! My weapons of choice this time? A chunky platform heel from Sam Edelman with beaded tribal adornments. As for comfy (but stylish) flats? These bright and cheery mustard espadrilles. I like that they look chic and dressier than a pair of sneakers or flip flops, but serve the same purpose!

Best part is that I get to wear any number of combinations of the bottoms, accessories, tops, and shoes–saving tons of room in my bag!

When on summer trips specifically, I can’t help but bring my [smaller] must-haves as well. A fashion magazine to read on the beach (duh), a couple different pairs of sunnies, hair detangler that doubles as a conditioner, refreshing face spray, my iPad, and of course my new Jergens lotion.

As you know by now, I’m a huge fan of the wet skin lotion because it’s not sticky in the least bit and it can be put on my skin to soften right out of the shower (a.k.a. no rinse, but doesn’t get slippery). With two times the moisture in half the time, the lotion goes with me everytime I go away for the weekend. I even use it on my neck and face sometimes when they’re feeling particularly dry. I’m definitely taking it with me to Miami to make sure my legs are standing tall (no pun intended) for any Wynwood photos we may be taking 😉 Give it a whirl if you’re looking for a new lotion that ACTUALLY works well.

Clearly, Henna had to make an appearance because she loves hanging around when I’m packing. She’s that adorable type of dog that follows you anywhere you go in the house. I can’t say I’m mad about it!
