Usually, you’ll never catch me wearing a mini skirt but this one was just too special to pass up! I found it today while shopping on my first weekday off (it pays to be a teacher!) at Ross, of all places. It was a score at $10 on clearance, and I knew it would soon become part of my party repertoire as the holiday season approaches.

This cozy Hollister sweater was a purchase from a couple of weeks ago, when out of curiosity, I decided to re-enter the store after years of being absent. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the company is doing a lot less “branding” all over their clothes and paying more attention to creative detailing like sequin and gold trim to embellish its comfy sweaters. I was soon in love and had to purchase this particular sweater for myself.

I wore it to work last week with a simple pair of black pants and ankle strap gold ballet slipper flats. This sequin-collared sheer shirt works perfectly to layer underneath with its similar neutral tones and pops of gold shine.

Finishing up the look with something to bring it more of a casual vibe to counteract the length of the skirt, I added these ankle boots, as they too had gold embellishments. It’s definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas! (Hey, even if there isn’t snow around here 🙂
